  • Lauren’s three memories of her mother

Mom, you recently asked me if I thought you were a good mom. My immediate response was yes but after much thought my answer to that is no, you were an incredible mother. You made so many sacrifices in your life so that Alan and I could have memories to last a lifetime. Today Dave and I have been asked to share some of fondest memories of our childhood so I will begin with a few of mine.

The first which sticks out in my head is our family vacations to New England. You worked without pay so that Alan and I could have two of the most unforgettable summers of our lives at good ol’ Camp Catherine Campers. We’ll never forget those sand dunes either mom.

My second most memorable childhood experience would definitely be our shopping excursions with Gran, yes including those trips to “Nearly New.” And mom I don’t mean the shopping end of it, I was referring to the quality time we all spent together.

Finally, how could I forget helping you cook those exquisite dinners while we sang Marc Cohn and Carly Simon songs as loud as we could? I can only hope that I am blessed with your extraordinary ability to make anything taste delicious.

So now it’s time to dance to one of our favorites.

  • GROOM / MOTHER DANCE

Dave’s three memories of his mother

Mom as you know, I am a man of few words so here are some of my most memorable childhood moments.

I think the most unforgettable for you would have to be my frog with a broken leg routine which got me out of a lot of trouble during my childhood years.

The most memorable for me would be the bribery you used to get me to accomplish whatever you wanted me to. Even the time you paid me to hit a homerun. I guess you didn’t expect me to hit four in one game. I still have that twenty bucks.

Finally, being diagnosed with kidney disease was not a great memory, but having you there for me through those excruciating 2 years meant the world to me.

And on that note would you honor me with this dance?
